WRT 109: Academic Practices of Writing

  • This is a honors, first-year composition course, in which students use academic writing skills, such as analysis and argumentation, to engage with the rhetoric of news.

R_C 1000: Expository Writing

  • This is a service-learning, first-year composition course, in which students explore the rhetorical elements of style. Students also lead writing workshops for middle and high school students at a local, after-school program as part of their service learning requirements for this course.

ENG 2001: Introduction to Writing Across the Curriculum

  • This is a second-year composition course, in which students are introduced to the rhetorical conventions and ways of knowing in their field or discipline. 

WRT 205: Critical Research

  • This is a second-year composition course, in which students experiment with different types of primary and secondary research, as they also reflect on their development as a writer/scholar. 

WRT 307: Professional Writing

  • This is a junior-level professional writing course, in which students hone skills in professional communication through the study of audience, purpose, and ethics. By the end of the course, students are better able to use rhetorical problem-solving principles to effectively respond to professional writing tasks and situations.
